Communication, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution  The Communication, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution course has been designed to help improve written, oral and negotiating skills within the construction industry. The course contains interactive elements, case studies, practical examples, a search function, course glossary and reference library.)

Upon completing this course, you will be able to: 

• Overcome communication barriers,

• Communicate clearly using a variety of methods,

• Apply communication skills to lead a meeting,

• Define a conflict,

• Identify the stages of conflict,

• Apply assertiveness techniques to help people understand your point,

• Work with difficult behaviours more effectively,

• Describe the criteria for an effective negotiator,

• Describe how power can be used or abused in negotiation,

• Identify when to close negotiations.

 This course has been accredited by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) for two (2) credits toward Gold Seal Certification. A final mark of 100% is required in order to receive a certificate of completion.

 This course is intended for anyone in the construction and maintenance industry who must interact effectively and professionally with employees, subcontractors, owners, clients, engineers and employers

Construction Industry Ethics (The Construction Industry Ethics course has been designed to help you understand ethics as it relates to the construction industry. The course contains interactive elements, case studies, practical examples, videos, and a course glossary.)

The Construction Industry Ethics course has been designed to help you understand ethics as it relates to the construction industry. The course contains interactive elements, case studies, practical examples, videos, and a course glossary.

OBJECTIVES

Upon completing this course, you will:

  1.  Understand what is included in "ethical behaviour"
  2.  Be aware of the importance of ethics in business
  3.  Know how to make ethical decisions
  4.  Recognize ethics in the context of the law
  5.  Understand the direct link between ethics and a company's success

 *All Gold Seal applicants will have to take the Construction Industry Ethics course (both online and classroom portions). Gold Seal has allocated a total of 3 credits to this course (2 for the online portion and 1 for the classroom portion).

This course will be mandatory to receive Gold Seal Certification. A final mark of 100% is required in order to receive a certificate of completion.

This course is intended for owner/clients, contractors, supervisors, project managers, etc. who must deal effectively and professionally with employees, sub-trades, owners, clients, engineers, employers, and the public.

Construction Project Management

Construction Project Management (This training program will provide you with the knowledge and skills to help you plan and administer projects from start to finish.)

After completing this course, you will:

  • Understand the construction business and your role in it as a construction project manager.
  • Know how to effectively communicate through listening, writing, and verbal communication.
  • Know how to manage and maintain worksite relationships.
  • Understand what happens at the project procurement stage.
  • Know your roles and responsibilities at each of the following stages:  -  Pre-Construction  -  Construction  -  Close-out

This course has been accredited by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) to one (1) credits toward Gold Seal Certification upon successful completion of this course. A final mark of 100% is required in order to receive a certificate of completion.

 This course is intended for everyone working in construction in any part of the country, in any sector (residential, institutional and commercial, heavy industrial and engineering).
